Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is no stranger to the Grand Canyon State, playing a key role with the Arizona Wildcats from 1983-88 and also serving as the Phoenix Suns General Manager from 2007-10.
As a Wildcat, Kerr put up nearly 1,500 points and averaged 11.2 points per game over four seasons while becoming a two-time All Pac-12 selection and playing under legendary coach Lute Olson.
Of course, after starring in Tucson, Kerr went on to do just a few big things after that in the NBA, including winning five championships with Phil Jackson and Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls, and more recently adding three more rings to his resume as the coach of the Warriors.
Kerr has played a big role on the basketball court, but he’s also done a lot off of the hardwood as well, including recently doing a nonpartisan video PSA with NowThis to teach Arizonans about the do’s and dont’s of voting and registration deadlines in the state. Your reminder that the voting registration deadline in Arizona is Oct. 5, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
The Suns and Mercury are using AZ Veterans Memorial Coliseum as a polling and ballot drop-off location, while the Coyotes are using Gila River Arena as a voting center and ballot drop-off as well.
