Sun Devils Crushed by USC, Wilkins injured

Arizona Sports News online

After a quick 4-0 start to the season, Arizona State wanted to be viewed as a top 25 football team. Not happening. Saturday night the Sun Devils were thoroughly embarrassed in every phase of the game in getting destroyed by USC 41-20.

The complete domination by the Trojans(2-3) was led by quarterback Sam Darnold, who threw three touchdown passes to  JuJu Smith-Schuster. The Arizona State defense was lit up to the tune of 522 yards by USC.  The Trojans averaged over 5 yards per carry.

Arizona State quarterback Manny Wilkins left the game with an injury. The television broadcast later showed Wilkins in a walking boot. Brady White replaced Wilkins and struggled early, but recorded his passing touchdown as a Sun Devil in the fourth quarter to make the score 41-13.

The Sun Devils didn’t record a first down in the second half until early in the fourth quarter. The Sun Devils(4-1, 1-1) are home next Saturday to play UCLA.
