One of the more amazing moments in recent Arizona State basketball history on Saturday night in Colorado. With their March Madness hopes up against the wall, the Sun Devils needed overtime to beat Colorado 63-62 at the buzzer.
There were six lead changes in OT and the Sun Devils had to make a mad dash down the floor in the waning moments, capped off by Evan Gordon’s lay-in as the horn sounded.
The Sun Devils looked like they were going to win this one in regulation, up six with 1:19 to go and possession of the ball, but some defensive breakdowns allowed Colorado to tie the game and force the extra period.
The road victory was even more significant for the Sun Devils because it’s their first win away from Tempe in Pac-12 Conference play against a good team. Most NCAA prognosticators have been quick to point out that the Sun Devils hadn’t had a strong road win to this point of the season.
ASU now comes home for their final two home games of the season, starting with Washington State on Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
