Zion Williamson and Ja Morant will be coming to Phoenix, except it won’t be to buy a house. The Suns put up the worst record in the NBA last season only to see them go unrewarded in the NBA Draft Lottery.
When the order was announced on Tuesday night in Chicago, the envelope holding the Suns logo was opened for the sixth pick.
For those who believe the lottery is fixed (many do), New Orleans ended up with the top pick, followed by Memphis at number two, then the New York Knicks, LA Lakers and Cleveland to round out the top 5.
The Pelicans have a strong Phoenix flavor. Alvin Gentry is the New Orleans head coach, Former Suns trainer Aaron Nelson is now with New Orleans and the Pels GM is David Griffin.
