Arizona and Arizona State played last November on the Pac-12 Network opposite Auburn v Alabama on CBS. Outside of the fans that attended the two schools, the game usually means something to the folks in El Paso, Albuquerque, San Diego, or Las Vegas who host second and third tier bowl games. Those aren’t the cities that you want paying attention to your product if you strive to have a national brand. However, after going through the first month of the college football season, I am willing to step out on a limb( branch?) and say that the way the Pac-12 South is shaping up here in 2018, the winner of the November 24th game in Tucson could be playing the conference title game the following Friday in San Jose.
Yogi Roth-Pac-12 Network Analyst “You look at the number of conference games played and everyone is in it. You look at the style of play, everyone is in it. I always look at a stat of unforced errors when I am calling games. what teams are killing themselves, and everyone has an issue. You can go down the line with every school in the South, except UCLA which in my opinion is a total rebuild, everybody has an issue. Utah, who’s game I’m calling this weekend has too many drops at the receiver position. Right now Colorado is the most consistent team, they really haven’t had much in the way of unforced errors. It’s going to be very close with all of these teams, now that they are head to head. It’s very pivotal.”
Brock Huard-ESPN College Football Analyst on Arizona State “I saw UCLA week one, they are so unbelievably thin, playing nothing but true freshman in critical spots. I saw Colorado beat Nebraska, they have Laviska Shenault(WR), he’s a game changer like N’keal Harry, I saw Utah with Washington up close, and USC plays in primetime every week. I think if Arizona State plays their game, Manny Wilkins plays to his ceiling, the can win anyone of those games(Pac-12 South), There is not one game in the Pac-12 South when the Sun Devils walk in to a stadium and cross the white lines where they should feel inferior as a group and as a team.”
