Three Dots…Osweiler time in Denver, Lebeau and Cardinals

Arizona Sports News online

To borrow a phrase from Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, Brock Osweiler should be the next man up in Denver. The former Arizona State Sun Devil has held the clipboard and worn the ball cap long enough behind Peyton Manning. Of all the controversies over the weekend, to me, watching Manning labor from start to finish was more impactful than Dez Bryant or Shane Vereen…

To me,Dick Lebeau and the Arizona Cardinals seem like the perfect marriage. The Hall of Fame defensive coordinator quit his position with the Pittsburgh Steelers over the weekend. With Todd Bowles on his way to becoming the head coach somewhere in the NFL(likely Atlanta), hiring Lebeau seems like a no-brainer…

Could Kurt Warner be more than a coach for Colin Kaepernick this offseason? If I am the 49ers, I have to at least gauge Warners interest in coming onboard
with the new coaching regime. Current San Francisco offensive coordinator Greg Romans name is being linked to the OC job with Rex Ryan in Buffalo…

Former Arizona State head coach Dirk Koetter, who was part of the bloodletting in Atlanta when Mike Smith was hired, landed on his feet in Tampa Bay as the new offensive
coordinator for Lovie Smith. Does he get handed Jameis Winston or Marcus Mariota for the 2015 season? The Bucs have the first overall pick in the May draft. Whichever one Tampa passes on, ends up with Ken Whisenhunt in Tennessee. Wonder if Matt Leinart will lob a call to the number 2 pick to lend them advice on what to expect
from Coach Whiz?…

I don’t understand how the Phoenix Suns would just let Marcus Morris embarrass his coach in Minnesota and not turn around and at least fine him or suspend him for a game. Apologizing to your teammates and the coach doesn’t cut it. In this day and age, you have to swing the sledgehammer on occasion to let the inmates know that they can’t run the asylum…

Shawn Marion is back in the Valley for Tuesday nights Suns v Cleveland matchup. I wrote two weeks that Lebron wasn’t going to play in Phoenix because of
injuries. He went through a strong pre game workout Sunday night in Sacramento, so maybe I was wrong. Marion has been beat up with a strained hip flexor for the Cavs. One of my favorites to ever wear a Suns jersey. No question in my mind that Marion belongs in the Suns Ring of Honor when his playing days are done…

Did you see what Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph did to the Suns big men Sunday night? Talk about being abused. Not one of the front court players for the Suns
made an impact against the terrific Griz tandem. C’mon Robert, this roster isn’t built to compete in the West…

If you had Oregon State tied for second in the Pac-12 with Arizona after two weeks of conference play, you win!
The Beavers hadn’t knocked off a Top 10 team since 1998-99 before Sunday nights shocker over seventh-ranked Arizona. I couldn’t believe how anemic the Wildcat offense looked to start the second half. When a team makes only three shots in the first 8 minuets after halftime, well, they are probably going to get beat…

Arizona State basketball is off to an 0-3 start in Pac-12 play. The point guard position over the last two games against the Oregon schools wasn’t anything to write home about. 15pts, 10assts, 12 turnovers, and 2 steals. In fact, through the first sixteen games, ASU has more turnovers(242) than assists(220).
Numbers aside, I agree with the decision to go with Tra Holder and Kodi Justice rather than Gerry Blakes. It’s not like they can go out and make a trade in the middle of the season, but at some point you have to establish that position rather than dink around until the season is lost.
Winless in conference play, the Sun Devils have two of the best in the Pac-12 at home this coming week, Utah and Colorado…
