Phoenix continues to show that it loves college football.
Monday nights National Title game may have been a blowout by Ohio State, but that didn’t keep fans from watching the Buckeyes destroy Oregon. Phoenix delivered a 20.8 household rating, a 32 Share, which is about 10% above the national average. Columbus, Ohio led the way with a 51.2 HH.
In college towns like Columbus and Eugene, Oregon the TV sets are going to be on the game. But in a major market like Phoenix to get such a strong rating, throws dirt on those who believe we are nothing more than a pro-sports market. Not true…
Rich Rod and Todd Graham need to put the tape in and look at the defensive size and speed or Ohio State. With the Pac-12 South looking much stronger than the North division for the 2015 season, both programs need to chase the elite athlete on that side of the ball. Today is another ‘building block’ day for Soccer in our state. Grand Canyon Univ. has hired former FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman to run men’s soccer. Hyndman brings national credibility to the sport just as Dan Majerle did for basketball. For the Arizona soccer community, having Michael Dellorusso coach Arizona United SC and Hyndman at GCU, we now have started the ball rolling downhill for the sport. All that is needed is a soccer facility that will hold 15-20 thousand and the sport will have its place solidified in our community…
Even though Suns owner Robert Sarver didn’t land the ownership of Rangers FC, I give him credit for at least pursuing it. It makes me wonder if he will take a stronger look at the soccer landscape of Arizona…
