Names Attached to ASU Football Head Coach Opening

Arizona Sports News online

Kevin Sumlin-Texas A&M

-His name has circulated around Arizona State since last summer. He was  15-10 at A&M the last two years, while Graham has gone 12-12. Sumlin met with Arizona State(pre-Anderson has AD) about the opening back in 2011. He visits the Valley quite often from my understanding.

Derek Mason -Vanderbilt

-Vandy has not had a good season(5-7). However, Mason has done about as good a job as possible in an almost impossible place to win big. Yes, there are ties to the Valley, but that doesn’t factor in from what I am told. He’s impressive

Pep Hamilton(Michigan assistant) and Tyrel Austin(Detroit Lions assistant) have been linked  through published reports to the Arizona State job.

I’ll throw three names at you along with one wildcard, that I believe Ray Anderson should look at.

Bryan Harsin-Boise State(not shades of Dirk Koetter) Just 41 years old and has accomplished quite a bit at Boise(is it time for him to move up?)

Jeff Monken-Army-Finishing up his fourth season for the Black Knights who are 8-3 this season. Held in high regard.

Dave Clauson-Wake Forest-Like Derek Mason, winning at Wake Forest isn’t easy. Clauson has put together back to back winning seasons(knocked off Louisville, Florida State and North Carolina State this year).

The wildcard I WOULD kick the tires on is.Lane Kiffin at Florida Atlantic-In his first year at FAU he’s 9-3. He’s only 42. Someone is going to take a chance on him to comeback to a Power 5 program at some point(probably too soon, now). You wouldn’t think Anderson would roll the dice, given the unhappiness from the ASU fan base over Grahams removal, but Anderson isn’t afraid to make changes. By my count, he’s moved 17 coaches in and out of ASU since taking over.
