Tony Jefferson had a terrific 2016 campaign for the Arizona Cardinals. In an otherwise dismal season, Jefferson was one of the few bright lights. Unfortunately for the Cardinals starting safety he won’t be on the field for the teams regular season finale against the Rams, and may have played his last game in Arizona.
Tuesday, the Cardinals placed Jefferson on the injured reserve list with a knee injury, ending his season. Jefferson finished 2016 playing in 15 games(starting 14) and had a career high in tackles(92) and tackles for loss(13). He was a playmaker, recovering two fumbles, forcing two fumbles and added two sacks. The 92 tackles was the second highest on the team.
Jefferson is a free-agent and figures to be a high priority for the Cardinals to try to re-sign. He will have interest on the open market.
