One of southern Arizona’s more high-profile football standouts will soon be calling the Valley home after Canyon del Oro star running back and linebacker Elijah Carey announced on social media his college intentions on Monday evening.

“I fell in love with their facilities,” Carey said of Glendale Community College to Sports360AZ.com. “The coaches there gave me a really good vibe as soon as I walked on the campus. I could tell it was like a family inside that locker room.”
Carey rushed for close to 1800 yards and scored 15 touchdowns for the Dorados in 2017. He finished 11th in all of Arizona in rushing yards last fall.
“Obviously great bloodlines as his brother and sister were college athletes,” Sports360AZ.com Recruiting Expert Jason Jewell said of Carey. “Fantastic kid. Runs hard. Has good speed. Love that he also played defense and was one of the leading tacklers on that side of the ball the last two years.”
Eli is the younger brother of former University of Arizona star and Chicago Bears running back Ka’Deem Carey. I shared the story of their special bond both on and off the field last spring.
We’re still working here!

“It’s a beautiful place,” Carey explained. “A perfect place for me to work on my game and get bigger, faster and stronger. I know the coaches are going to help me grow into the player and the man I want to be.”
