Hamilton quarterback Tyler Shough has emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the country. In a busy offseason where he picked up offer after offer and was named to the Elite 11 and The Opening, the Hamilton quarterback has committed to North Carolina.
Standing at 6-foot-5, 195 pounds, Shough had a final list including the Tar Heels, Cal, South Carolina, Indiana and Michigan and held over 20 offers.

Shough is coming off a junior season where he threw for 2,079 yards, 27 touchdowns and nine interceptions. After a week at the Elite 11, many of the staff members felt the Hamilton quarterback was a top-five talent in the nation. Shough impressed those attending the event with his ability to break down film, make reads and for his passing touch.
According to Scout.com’s Greg Biggins, “Shough is a pure passer with a great feel for the position. He has a smooth, easy delivery, is smart with the football and among the most accurate quarterbacks in the country.”
Biggins sees Shough as a well-rounded quarterback both in skill set and between the ears.
What does he do wrong? What’s a weakness in his game? He’s smart. He’s decisive. He throws the ball well, on-time. He can make all those throws. It seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. Functional intelligence is the word, where he can process quickly and make the correct reads.
Shough is the third four-star recruit of the Tar Heels’ 2018 class, and is the second quarterback to commit out of Arizona recently as Gilbert quarterback Jack Plummer committed to Purdue last week. They join Cienega quarterback Jamarye Joiner, an Arizona commit, among the top quarterbacks to have already announced their college decisions.
Hamilton to ACC
Shough will be able to square off against his backfield-mate in running back Jawhar Jordan, who committed to Syracuse earlier this month.
