Over the past season and a quarter we’ve become accustomed to Arizona State and high-scoring football games.
Certainly not what the defensive-minded Todd Graham hoped for but the facts speak for themselves. Last season ASU was second-to-last in the nation in pass defense (127th) and 97th in total defense. The Sun Devils are 109th nationally in total defense and 94th in points allowed (32). Pair that with visiting Cal who statistically is even worse (119th in total defense, 117th in scoring defense) and it’s easy to see something like this.
The total on #CALvsASU is 82.5. Highest O/U total in #CFB so far this season per @JimmyVaccaro w/ @bradcesmat. #gambling#numbers#ASU

“As you can see they’re playing flag football at a lot of colleges,” Las Vegas oddsmaker Jimmy Vaccaro deadpanned to Brad Cesmat during his weekly interview Thursday morning. “It’s a lot of fun.”
Saturday is the Pac-12 opener for both teams. Kickoff from Sun Devil Stadium is set for 7:00.
