In the recruiting world, the athlete tag on players at the high school level essentially means a guy has no defined role to what position they will play at the next level but one thing is for certain, they have the athleticism to be able to play somewhere.
An athlete in every stretch of the word can be used when describing Hamilton senior Brandon Krcilek.
You watch a Husky game and the first thing that stands out is the ability to create separation and haul in receptions at the wide receiver position. After he lands in the end zone, which he did twice in fridays exciting win over Pinnacle, he is then the next man out to kick the ball off which he boots the pig skin off the ball landing for touchbacks more often than not. And if the Hamilton offense is not able to convert, Krcilek comes out and kicks one of the highest and deepest punts you will see anywhere in the state. Throw an interception into the stat line as well and you have a guy that quite frankly, does it all.
“He was phenomenal,” said Hamilton head coach Steve Belles after the Huskies 37-35 win over Pinnacle. “Kicked, punted, made the interception at the end. He makes some big plays.”
“We win collectively,” Krcilek said. “It isn’t just one player and I cant take all the credit certainly.”
The most defined role for Krcilek is at the wide receiver position as he is one of the main targets for quarterback James Sosinski. He has three touchdowns on the year and his connection with Sosinski goes back for much of their high school careers.
“We have been throwing together since freshman year and have been together for four years now,” he explained. “I am definitely gifted to have him as my quarterback.”
Hamilton is used to getting the best from their opponent each and every week throughout the season. That was the case once again in week three against Pinnacle. But learning to handle adversity as a team this early in the season is very important.
“When I was a sophomore we came out and lost our first two games and we had to overcome that adversity,” mentioned Krcilek. “So we are used to it. I just try to do my best and pick up the team. It’s good to come together this close as a team early so we can carry that throughout the season and get that ring.”
Hamilton will look to make it 3-0 against Liberty from Nevada next week.
