It may have been Jason Jewell’s first game as Brophy head coach Friday night against Liberty but he and his Broncos showed quite a bit of moxy knocking off west Valley power Liberty 9-6 at Phoenix College.
To say Brophy came ready to play would be an understatement.
ALL-ACCESS ??…

Despite being undersized up front defensively, BCP kept the Lions behind the chains the entire game in spite of losing a number of players to injury and dehydration.
Liberty got in the board in the third quarter but a failed two-point conversion kept it a three-point game.
Jewell and the Brophy run game helped methodically manage the clock, essentially keeping the game between the 30’s and senior linebacker/safety Michael Diaz knocked down Liberty’s Hail Mary at the goal line to seal the win.
While the Lions’ defense matched Brophy’s effort, their offense sputtered alternating between quarterbacks Jonah Guavara and Brock Mast.
