The Snowflake Lobos got the ball rolling Thursday night as they bit the Alchesay Falcons 57-7. Dallin Merrill scampered for 2 touchdowns in the opening quarter and a handful more Lobos put points up including lineman Reggie Peterson who returned a blocked punt 12 yards for 6.
The defending Division IV state champion Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets blew away the Page Sand Devils 57 -7. The Show Low Cougars blanked the Florence Gophers 58-0 as Dallin Crandall ran for 2 touchdowns. The Winslow Bulldogs topped rival Holbrook Roadrunners 42 -7. The Payson Longhorns cracked the Camp Verde Cowboys 41 – 21.
In 8 man action it was Mogollon over Kearny/Ray 52-8. The Mustangs stampede was too much for the Bearcats.
This week features some key contests for White Mountain gridiron teams. Mogollon travels to Mayer in 8 man football. Payson hosts Fountain Hills. In one of the most interesting contests Holbrook travels to Alchesay while Show Low ventures to Round Valley. Winslow hosts Flagstaff and St Johns hosts Window Rock. The key matchup this week has to be Blue Ridge at Snowflake contest. It will be the ultimate test for the Lobos on their home turf.
