Adrian Wilson has played at an extreme level for the Cardinals for the past 11 years, and he’s looking to elevate his game even more in this season.
Wilson set the tone at the beginning of training camp, by deciding to restructure his contract in order to give the Cardinals some more cap room.
A veteran move by Wilson, who, in his words, didn’t want to be “a cap casualty.”
Wilson is gung-ho for his 12th season in Arizona, and he feels the organization is taking the necessary steps to become an elite team in the NFL.
“I really feel like we’re in a better place as an organization, just all around,” Wilson said. “It’s a lot of guys that’s up that need to be a Cardinal for life. Just be happy, just go out and play your heart out for one team and one franchise.”
Wilson, who made his fourth straight Pro Bowl appearance last season, and fifth overall, leads by example, and wants to see guys like Daryl Washington and Patrick Peterson stay in Arizona and continue to build on the solid foundation that’s being laid out by the Cardinals brain-trust.
“I see this organization going in a positive direction, and I’m just happy to be a part of it,” Wilson said.
Happy being the operative word in that statement. Wilson says he’s “always happy,” and leaves the business part of his job (i.e. the money part) off the field, so he can concentrate on bringing the organization, Cardinals fans and the state of Arizona a world championship.
“I’m excited about the season, excited about our defense and we’ll see what happens,” Wilson said.
