Entering Saturday’s state championship game against Mountain Pointe, the Chandler Wolves had outscored their opponents 131-14 in the first half. It wasn’t as dramatic as their previous three playoff games, but the Wolves’ hot start led the way to another victory as they outscored the Pride 22-7 in the first half.
When it was all said and done, the No. 2 Wolves beat Mountain Pointe 36-17. With T.J. Green rushing for three touchdowns, two more going to receiver Jarick Caldwell and Imani Lee adding two interceptions defensively, Chandler looked very, very different from the team that lost to Mountain Pointe 52-6 in Week 3.
This is the Wolves’ second state title in three years. With quarterback Jacob Conover, receivers Caldwell and Gunner Romney, as well as defensive stars Zach Bowers and Chris Manoa returning, they will be contenders in 2017.
